    JAPANESE WALL ART QUESTIONS

    Before you pick a photo

Which photos work, the two styles, and how printing works.

Ukiyo-e is the Japanese woodblock printing tradition of the Edo period, known from artists like Hokusai and Hiroshige. Its flat colors, fine outlines, stylized waves and mountains are what this style recreates from your photo.

Landscapes with water and mountains, coastlines, gardens, quiet streets and animals. A clear main subject and a calm background give the cleanest print.

Ukiyo-e is classic and calm, in indigo, cream and soft greens. Technical Ukiyo-e Print mixes the woodblock look with blueprint lines and bold red, yellow and blue, for a more graphic, modern wall.

The stamps and labels are decorative, added by the style the way seals appear on traditional prints. They are not a translation of anything and can’t be set to a specific text.

Upscale the artwork before ordering and it is prepared for print, then printed on one of five archival fine-art papers from 180gsm to 315gsm. You choose the size and see a preview before you order.

Creating Japanese wall art is part of a PicturaLabs plan, starting at $9 a month (€11 in the EU), and you can cancel anytime. Prints are priced separately by size, paper and frame, and you see the price before you order.
