How to calculate an aspect ratio
Divide width and height by their greatest common divisor. A 4,000 × 3,000 photo shares a divisor of 1,000, so its ratio is 4:3. A 1,920 × 1,080 image divides by 120 and gives 16:9.
To resize to a ratio, multiply the side you know by the other term and divide by its own: at 16:9, a width of 1,920 needs a height of 1,920 × 9 ÷ 16 = 1,080.
